Hudson Valley Hematology-Oncology is the largest Hematology-Oncology practice between Westchester and Albany. Established nearly 30 years ago our highly trained, board certified physicians provide outstanding, personalized care for patients with Cancer and Blood Disorders in The Hudson Valley.
Our physicians are principle investigators in clinical trials at the four hospitals we serve and are committed to research and development of new therapies and treatment for all types of cancers and blood disorders.

Hudson Valley Hematology Oncology History
In 1982 Edgar Alvarez, MD opened a Hematology/Oncology practice in Peekskill, Westchester County, New York with a goal of providing highly personalized service to patients. In 1983, he moved the practice to Dutchess County and Hudson Valley Hematology Oncology Associates was developed. Dr. Niloufer Rodrigues joined shortly thereafter and together they established a practice covering the counties of Dutchess, Orange and Putnam with offices in Fishkill, Poughkeepsie, and Newburgh and with privileges at Vassar Brother Hospital (now Vassar Brothers Medical Center), St. Francis Hospital, Highland Hospital in Beacon (later closed), St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, Cornwall Hospital in New Windsor, Batterfield Hospital in Cold Spring and Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. In 1985, HVHOA became a limited liability partnership (RLLP) and the practice concentrated on Vassar Brother Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital. In 2000, Dr. Glenn Agoliati joined HVHOA and was followed by Dr. Ponciano Reyes and Dr. Ram Kancherla in 2001, Dr. Michael Maresca in 2003 and Dr. Lev Davidson in 2007. In 2009, Dr. Julia A. Schaefer-Cutillo, Dr. Jeffrey Ambinder and
Dr. Anup Das joined the practice. Dr. Rodrigues retired in 2007 and Dr. Alvarez in 2009.
PET/CT scan was added in late 2008 and COLA approved clinical Laboratory in 2009.
Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Carmel offices were relocated to new state of the art facilities.
Currently, HVHOA has 8 practicing physicians in 5 locations in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties and are affiliated with 5 local hospitals. Ram Kancherla, MD is the Managing Partner of the Group.

Dr. Schaefer-Cutillo is board certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology. She specializes in Women's Health and disease prevention specifically in breast and gynecological cancers.
